Mihaela Craciun from Romanian Television (TVR 1), recently aired a Skype interview with Dr. Alexander Marmureanu, world-renowned cardiothoracic surgeon. Dr. Marmureanu?s initial interview with TVR 1 aired in 2010, so his 2020 appearance provided updates on his life and career in Hollywood over the past decade.
Dr. Marmureanu remains extremely busy working between five hospitals in Los Angeles, California, and is the chief of cardiac surgery in three of those hospitals.
During conversation about the current COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Marmureanu shares his view on how the virus has impacted hospital systems globally. He explains how in California, social distancing measures were imposed early on, contributing to lower hospitalization and death rates than in New York. Unfortunately, there have still been far too many people (including medical professionals) in California who have succumbed to COVID-19. Additionally, Dr. Marmureanu shares his belief that the practice of social distancing will likely need to continue over the next 1-2 years, until a vaccine or effective treatment for COVID-19 is established.
Dr. Marmureanu concludes the interview by discussing his robust work ethic. With enthusiasm, he imparts a lasting message that in order to become a better person (and extraordinary surgeon), continuous learning, experience, and hard work are the keys to success.
